Driving to Les Arcs from Calais takes about 10 hours and we do this in a two stage trip; travelling on Friday, staying near Lyons in a hotel (with a nice dinner in town - try Cafe Abel) and then getting to Les Arcs around 09.00 for Saturday's skiing. We return and stay overnight near Troyes.
There are a number of costs to consider, as well as ensuring you have the right equipment in the car. The checklist below (to be added) is the one we use to prepare for driving.
We estimate that the total cost of driving from London including all the insurance, Eurotunnel, fuel, parking etc, but excluding the hotel stays, is around £480
